Optimus study presented and discussed at WHO meeting in Cape Town, 6-7 September 2011
Zurich, 31. August 2011 - The 5th WHO Meeting 'Milestones in a Global Campaign for Violence Prevention' will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, on 6-7 September 2011.
The UBS Optimus Foundation is convening experts from across the globe for a pre-symposium on the international epidemiology of child sexual abuse.
This will review the findings from recent and emerging studies, and explore methodological and ethical issues, with the goal of suggesting an agenda for future research to resolve some of the controversies in these areas. The symposium convenors are Dr. David Finkelhor of the University of New Hampshire, USA, chairman of the Optimus Study scientific advisory board, Dr Patricia Lannen of the UBS Optimus Foundation and projectmanager of the Optimus Study; Dr James Mercy of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Dr. Chris Mikton, Violence and Injury Prevention WHO.
