The primary objective of this approach is to collect data to better estimate of prevalence rates of CSA and child victimization experienced by children aged 15-17. The secondary objective is to test risk factors of CSA.
Target group
A representative sample of students attending Secondary 4 to 6 (or Grades 10 to 12) who are aged 15-17 will be selected in Hong Kong and 5 provinces in Mainland China.
Conducting the student survey

Students will be invited to a room and sitting comfortably apart from each other such that they could not see the answers written by other students. An interviewer will be deployed where possible to assist the students in completing the self-administered questionnaires. The students will be well briefed on the background of the survey and the design of the questionnaire. The completion of the questionnaires is completely anonymous and that the questionnaire is designed using simple language.
Questions
The student survey focuses on the victimization of the young people and aims to record the nature and number of incidents of victimization experienced during their lives to date. In addition to the type of victimization, interviewees will be asked to provide precise details on where the abuse occurred, the number and age of the perpetrators as well as any repercussions. The stress that the young people experienced as a result of abuse and the current impairment of their physical and emotional health are also of central importance.
