Parent Survey

Contents and questions posed in the parent survey
The parent survey is designed to complement the student survey. The focus of the parent survey will also be on the child’s experience of victimization during the whole of its life to date. The study will also look at the child’s health and that of its parents, the family environment and the child’s education and upbringing. Each questionnaire is divided into a section to be completed by the principal guardian, as well as one section each for the mother and father or the family members carrying out these roles.

Target group

45 schools were randomly chosen for the parent survey from the random sample of 179 schools selected for the student survey. The goal is to survey the parents of some 1,500 ninth grade students.

Conducting the parent survey

The parent survey will be conducted parallel to the student survey. The students from the respective classes will be given the questionnaires for their parents in an envelope to take home with them. The parents can then complete the questionnaires at home and return them by mail.

Results of the study

Initial results of the parent survey are expected from the beginning of January 2011.
